Ermis is a seasoned business leader, having founded successful firms, launched a technology incubator, and been recruited to sit on the Boards of a bank, a technology firm, and other organizations. He is the founder of Sigma Engineering, which remains profitable and growing under the guidance of a hand-picked management team. He has written articles on the use of technology to improve efficiency in the design process which have appeared in numerous trade magazines. Sfakiyanudis serves as the Chairman of the Board for the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation. He helped launch and is on the Board of the Chesapeake Innovation Center (CIC), a technology incubator focused on Homeland Defense. He is on the Board of BankAnnapolis (Nasdaq: ANNB) and serves on the Advisory Board for Nokia Innovent.
