Eric Seiler Biography :

Eric Seiler's practice involves complex and multidistrict litigation, securities litigation, insurance litigation, accountants' liability litigation, antitrust litigation, and commercial and employment litigation and arbitration. He recently served as lead counsel in successfully opposing a $280 million claim by the major leaseholder at 7 World Trade Center and also represented the developer in obtaining insurance proceeds for rebuilding. He also recently served as lead counsel on behalf of a major financial services firm in a complex contractual dispute resulting in a recovery in excess of $200 million. He represented a litigation trust in recovering $77 million from major broker-dealers in a case alleging contract, tort, and antitrust violations arising out of the sale and liquidation of complex derivative securities. He also has served as lead counsel to a major institutional investor in a $200 million securities fraud and accountants' liability case against a major accounting firm, an institutional placement agent, and others arising from the bankruptcy of the Phar-Mor drugstore chain. He has represented private equity firms, investment banks, and a major inter-dealer broker in connection with unfair competition claims and other employment-related claims.

Mr. Seiler graduated magna cum laude with highest honors in economics and Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard College in 1978; he received a master's degree in economics from Harvard and then graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1982. He served as Articles Editor of the Harvard Law Review and is the author of Note, Antitrust and Nonprofit Entities, 94 Harv. L. Rev. 802 (1981). Mr. Seiler also published, in 1984, an article in the Review of Economics and Statistics titled Piece Rate vs. Time Rate: The Effect of Incentives on Earnings. He clerked for The Honorable Milton Pollack of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

In addition to his practice, Mr. Seiler is Co-Chair of the Board of Directors of the Union Square Partnership and has served as an adjunct Assistant Professor at the Columbia Business School. He was a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York's Task Force on the New York State Constitutional Convention and its Council on Judicial Administration, and was Vice Chair of the Network of Bar Leaders Special Project on the Judiciary Budget. Mr. Seiler is also admitted to practice in Florida.
