Eric M. Smolenski was named vice president of human resources of Worthington Industries in December of 2005. Smolenski oversees the human resources efforts across the entire company.
Smolenski joined Worthington in 1994 in the company's treasury department responsible for daily cash management activities. Later that year he assisted with an ERP and accounting software implementation at the Worthington Precision Metals facilities in Mentor Ohio and Franklin Tennessee. In 1995 Smolenski joined the human resources team as a generalist aiding in many HR functions from compensation to personnel practice. In 1998 he joined the company's cylinders division as a financial analyst focusing on international projects. In 2001 he returned to the corporate human resources department with split duties between the cylinders division and corporate.
In January of 2004 Smolenski was promoted to director of human resources. In that capacity he was responsible for a number of areas including personnel practice and labor relations. In addition he served as the project lead of the Oracle HR/Payroll implementation.
Smolenski is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He received his MBA in 2004 from Otterbein College in Columbus Ohio.
He is a member of United Way's Young Leadership Group and resides in Lewis Center Ohio with his wife Julie.
