Eric Barr is a Director of Lazar Lipton Valuation Services, LLC. Mr. Barr, a Certified Public Accountant in New York and New Jersey, specializes in the areas of business valuation, complex commercial litigation, forensic accounting, fraud investigation and matrimonial accounting, as well as traditional accounting and audit for the construction, transportation, retail, healthcare, manufacturing/distribution, not-for-profit, professional services, real estate, technology and wholesale industries.
Mr. Barr has more than thirty years of experience in public accounting and valuation. He is the former Director of Accounting and Assurance Services for a mid-size New Jersey CPA firm, where he also handled complex valuation engagements.
Mr. Barr received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1972. In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant in New York and New Jersey, he holds the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants' designation of Accredited in Business Valuation ("ABV"). He is also a Certified Valuation Analyst ("CVA") and a Certified Fraud Examiner ("CFE").
Mr. Barr is a member of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, where he has held such positions as Past President of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants - Essex County Chapter, Past Chairman of the Litigation Services Committee, and Past Co-Chairman of the Business Valuation Subcommittee. He is also a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Mr. Barr is also involved in the community as the Vice President of the Jewish Community Housing Corporation and as Chairman of the Financial Oversight Committee of Temple Emanuel of West Essex, New Jersey.
Mr. Barr is a frequent public speaker in the areas of accounting and valuation. He has developed a variety of lender training programs, and has lectured to the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, the New Jersey Bar Association, TAG International, banks and other credit grantors, and other professional and business groups.
