Emily J. Vaias is a Partner practicing land use, zoning, municipal and administrative law in Maryland and the District of Columbia. She represents local and national developers, builders of residential and commercial projects, retailers, business owners and individuals before administrative, legislative and judicial bodies. She has worked on mixed-use projects, senior housing campuses, retail shopping centers, office complexes, historic building renovations and single family housing developments. She has also advised local governments on code interpretations and applications. She has served on numerous community and professional boards including positions on the Legislative Committee of the Apartment and Office Building Association, Commercial Real Estate Women, the Delivery of Legal Services Section Council of the Maryland State Bar Association, and the National Capital Trolley Museum. She is an adjunct professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Professional Studies in Business and Education and has co-authored several articles on land use and zoning issues. For over ten years, she has been actively involved in providing pro bono legal services through the Homeless Persons Representation Project and received the 2001 Maryland Pro Bono Service Award from the Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland.
