Elizabeth Pianca Biography :

Elizabeth Pianca is a member of the public law department. Prior to joining Meyers Nave, she clerked at the Katherine & George Alexander Community Law Center in San Jose and the Office of the California Attorney General in Oakland. Having served as the state policy analyst with the National Trust for Historic Preservation in Washington, D.C., Elizabeth handled state policy issues, including the preservation of historic schools, state tax incentives and building codes for historic preservation. Her research findings have been published by the National Trust and presented at the National Trust's annual conference, the American Planning Association's national conference and at community meetings throughout the United States.Elizabeth received her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law and her B.A. in Urban Studies from Stanford University. While in law school, she was the managing editor of the Santa Clara Law Review and president of the Environmental Law Society. As an undergraduate, she was chair of Stanford in Government, a student-run organization dedicated to raising awareness among Stanford undergraduates about politics, government and civic engagement. Elizabeth is a member of the legal honor society Phi Delta Phi and the Stanford Alumni Association. She is a 2004-2005 pupil of the Honorable William A. Ingram American Inn of Court.She is a recipient of several awards, including the Witkins Award for Academic Excellence in Social Justice, the CALI and Witkins Award for Academic Excellence in Labor Law, the Richard S. Rosenberg Labor Law Prize, Top 10 Finisher in the 2004 Student Environmental Negotiations Competition sponsored by the State Bar of California, and a Certificate of Excellence in Legal Analysis, Research & Writing. Elizabeth is a former John Gardner Public Service Fellow. Elizabeth's law review comment, "Protecting American Indian Sacred Sites on Federal Lands" was published in the Santa Clara Law Review, 45 Santa Clara L. Rev. 461 (2005), and she published "Interpretation and Application of SWANCC in 2003-2004" in the January 2005 edition of the American Bar Association's Water Quality and Wetlands Committee Newsletter.
