Beth Vanderslice was general manager of Terra Lycos, Inc. from June 1999 through July 2001. She served as president and CEO of Wired Digital, Inc. from 1996 through June 1999, when she lead the company’s acquisition by Lycos. She oversaw all areas of the operation including the original daily news service, wired.com; the hotbot.com search services; advertising sales; marketing; engineering; and the company’s strategic partnerships. Under her leadership, Wired Digital - a spin-off from Wired magazine and the first company to sell banner advertising on the Internet - reached profitability and grew revenue to over $50 million. Vanderslice was elected to the board of directors of Wired Ventures in 1998. Prior to joining Wired Digital, she was a vice president at H.W. Jesse & Co., a San Francisco investment banking firm and business strategy consulting firm. She has also served as a principal in the investment banking firm of Sterling Payot Company, and spent four years as a systems engineer for IBM.
Vanderslice received her MBA from the Harvard Business School in 1992 and was graduated from Boston College summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and marketing. She has been a member of the Northern California Chapter of the Young President’s Organization since 1997 and serves on the board of directors of Xilinx (HASDAQ: XLNX) and the Bay Area Discovery Museum. Vanderslice was also chosen one of 20 Henry Crown Fellows, Class of 2000, by the Aspen Institute. |
