Liz White is a partner in the Firm's Real Estate Practice Group and practices from the Williamsburg office. Widely recognized for her experience in planned communities and property owner associations, she is counsel to large-scale national developers, lenders, local governing bodies and community associations. Liz has assisted with the development of master planned residential and commercial communities such as New Town (Williamsburg), Kiln Creek (Newport News), Harbour View (Suffolk), and Warrington Hall (Chesapeake). As general counsel to large planned communities, Liz serves communities up to 3,700 units (app. 10,000 residents) with many resort complexes offering golf courses and other resort facilities. She is well known for her proactive approach and business philosophy towards community associations operating via sound policies and practices to effectively minimize conflict and maximize long-term community vitality. Liz's extensive knowledge of community association law has garnered her reputation as a sought-after resource for organizations such as Community Associations Institute and James City County's Office of Neighborhood Connections. Her goal to learn all she can about the legal aspects of community associations has led her to study both corporate law, local government and land use law to gain more insight into the complexities facing her clients. She attends national seminars and conferences on community associations and is frequent writer and speaker on this topic within the region. She has been listed in Virginia Business Magazine's "Legal Elite" and Inside Business's "Top 40 under 40" for business people in Southeastern Virginia. Liz was honored as the 2002 "Speaker of the Year" award from the Southeastern Virginia Chapter of Community Associations Institute and received the 2004 Outstanding Service Award by the Board of Supervisors for James City County in recognition of her efforts and commitment to educating citizens about community associations.
