Dr. Katz is well known in the medical community from his work over the last 14 years as faculty Transplant Surgeon at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, as the Director of Abdominal Organ Transplantation at the INTEGRIS Oklahoma Transplantation Institute, and most recently as Associate Professor of Surgery and Director of the Liver Transplantation Division at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Dr. Katz brings to CTI an extensive and broad clinical experience in general and transplantation surgery and in all related medical fields such as hepatology, immunology, nephrology, cardiology, infectious diseases, anesthesiology, critical care, and hematology. His clinical activity included participation in numerous research studies of new agents, surgical techniques and clinical practices. Dr. Katz initiated the first in-situ split liver transplant surgery in the US. He performed living related donor liver transplants in both pediatric and adult populations. In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Katz has been a member of the teaching staff for medical students, nurses and residents. Dr. Katz has authored and co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles, abstracts and book chapters in the field of transplantation. Dr. Katz is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of numerous medical societies. As a committee and board member of different medical societies and organizations, Dr. Katz has been extensively involved in local, regional and federal policy making in the areas of organ transplantation, donation, allocation, ethics and curriculum development for transplant fellows. |
