Einar Stole is an associate in the Intellectual Property Litigation section of the Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP Litigation Department. Dr. Stole has experience in various aspects of patent litigation, preparation and prosecution of U.S. and international patent applications, and counseling in matters involving infringement, validity, freedom to operate and intellectual property due diligence.
Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Stole served as a patent examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. His practice focuses on the biotechnology and pharmaceutical arts, including diagnostic and therapeutic methods, recombinant nucleic acids and proteins, genetic engineering, gene therapy, genomics, rational drug design, and recombinant antigens and vaccines. Dr. Stole is a member of the bar of Maryland and the District of Columbia, and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Maryland and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Dr. Stole is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Dr. Stole received a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Washington in 1986. He conducted his doctoral research in enzymology and earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Cornell University in 1992. Following graduation, he conducted post-doctoral research in the field of nucleic acid enzymology and became a member of the faculty of the Department of Biochemistry at Johns Hopkins University. During both his doctoral and post-doctoral research, Dr. Stole synthesized many of the organic molecules and compounds used in his research and resolved, separated and analyzed enantiomers of amino acids, carbohydrates and other organic compounds. He has co-authored 10 peer-reviewed articles or other publications in the fields of biochemistry and enzymology. He is a graduate (J.D.) of the University of Maryland and School of Law. |
