R. Edwin Redfern is a government relations director in the Government and Regulatory Affairs Practice Group of the Washington, D.C., office. Ed has enjoyed a distinguished political career in Washington, D.C., as well as in his home state of Iowa. His extensive experience with virtually all aspects of legislative and executive branch policymaking is widely regarded by both government and business leaders. Prior to joining the firm, he was with Arent Fox.
Ed has served as CEO of Redfern Resources, a Washington-based government relations firm he founded, since 1989. He was the special assistant to Senator Charles E. Grassley of Iowa from 1983 to 1989. During that time Senator Grassley held positions on the Appropriations Subcommittee of the Senate Committee on Housing and Urban Development and other agencies including NASA, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Consumer Protection Agency.
Ed has kept close ties in Iowa. Between two separate appointments to the White House advance team, serving both President Ronald Reagan and President Gerald Ford, he was director of communications for Bankers Trust in Des Moines from 1980 to 1983. He also served as an administrative assistant to Iowa Governor Robert D. Ray from 1977 to 1980. |
