Edward Bartko is a senior managing director in the Transaction Advisory Services group of FTI’s Corporate Finance practice and is based in Washington, D.C. Mr. Bartko has assisted clients with many types of corporate finance transactions, including mergers and acquisitions of multibillion dollar companies, half-billion-dollar private placements and multimillion dollar public offerings.
Mr. Bartko has provided financial advisory services to companies experiencing financial distress as well as debtors-in-possession. On behalf of debtors, he has provided financial advice on many aspects of the bankruptcy process, including the sale of assets. Mr. Bartko has also participated in various arbitration proceedings in the roles of advisor and arbiter. He has testified on matters of accounting and finance in both courtroom and administrative agency environments such as the SEC.
Industry sectors in which Mr. Bartko has gained significant experience include media and entertainment (broadcast, newsprint and cable), information and communication (ISPs, cellular and telecom), food manufacturers, government contracting, and high technology (software and biotech). His corporate clients have included AOL Time Warner; Government Technology Services, Inc.; Lockheed Martin; Mars Incorporated; Maximus; Medimmune; New York Daily News; Personnel Group of America, Inc.; Storer Communications; US News; and Verizon Communications.
Mr. Bartko’s merchant banking and financial buyer clients include Cerberus Capital Management, The Carlyle Group and Wachovia Capital Partners.
Prior to joining FTI, Mr. Bartko was a partner in the Financial Advisory Services (FAS) practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers. During his 30 years with the firm, he held many positions, including global operations leader for the $1.3 billion FAS division, which operated in more than 30 countries with 6,000 professionals. Mr. Bartko also was an audit partner for 20 years, serving many of the firm’s largest and most complex clients.
Mr. Bartko has a B.A. in business administration (magna cum laude) from Thiel College in Pennsylvania. He is a certified fraud examiner and a certified public accountant in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia.
Mr. Bartko is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the District of Columbia Institute of Certified Public Accountants, where he served on three occasions as chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission Practice Committee and completed a four-year term as a member of the board of governors and director of accounting and auditing. He has been involved in other community and professional organizations, where he has held various committee chair, officer and board positions. The organizations include the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Washington Board of Trade and the Biotechnology Industry Organization. He currently serves on the board of the National Capital Poison Center. He has served as a guest lecturer at Georgetown University as well as at the universities of Maryland and Virginia. |
