Mr. Mehrer retired from CyDex, Inc., a drug delivery company, as chief financial officer. He currently serves as a board member and audit committee chair of Novastar Financial, Inc. He also serves on the board of directors at Winn-Dixie Store and FBL Financial Group, Inc. Prior to joining CyDex, Mr. Mehrer was executive vice president and chief financial and administrative officer of Marion Merrell Dow, a pharmaceutical company with annual sales in excess of $ 3 billion, where his responsibilities included finance, information systems, legal, human resources, communications, investor relations, business development and quality performance. He also served Marion Merrell Dow as a member of the board of directors and executive committee. During his tenure at Marion Merrell Dow, Mr. Mehrer was also the chairman of the board of Rugby Laboratories, Inc., a generic pharmaceutical company. From 1976 to 1986, Mr. Mehrer served as partner-in-charge of audit and accounting for Peat Marwick in Kansas City, Missouri. Mr. Mehrer joined MGI PHARMA's board of directors in September 2002. |
