Douglas M. Hottle is a partner with Meyer, Unkovic & Scott LLP. As a member of the firm’s Litigation Section, Mr. Hottle has a broad range of civil litigation experience in state and federal courts throughout the Mid-Atlantic States. He has represented corporate and individual clients in matters involving tort defense litigation, business and commercial disputes, insurance coverage litigation, employment litigation and construction litigation.Mr. Hottle is an active member of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS). He frequently represents clients in the security industry and counsels security companies to adopt practices and policies to minimize their risk of litigation.Prior to attending law school, Mr. Hottle spent nine years in the US Army as a Criminal Investigator, serving in Germany, Turkey, Honduras and bases in the United States.Mr. Hottle graduated cum laude from Southern Connecticut State University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management. While there, he was a member of the Alpha Chi National Honor Society and Omicron Delta Epsilon, a national honor fraternity for the study of Economics. Mr. Hottle received his Juris Doctor degree cum laude from Duquesne University School of Law, where he served as Executive Editor of the Duquesne Law Review. While at Duquesne, he was a Staff Writer for the Juris Magazine, and received the American Jurisprudence Award for excellence in Legal Research and Writing. As part of Duquesne's Honor Legal Clinic Program, Mr. Hottle served as a law clerk to the late Honorable Carol Los Mansmann of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.Still a member of the United States Army Reserve, Mr. Hottle was activated and deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. While in Iraq, he served as trial counsel to the 372nd Engineer Brigade (Combat) and Task Force 185th Aviation Brigade. Mr. Hottle was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for exceptionally meritorious service during combat operations in Iraq.Mr. Hottle is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in Pennsylvania and before the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. Mr. Hottle is a member of the Defense Research Institute, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and serves on the Mt. Lebanon Zoning Hearing Board. |
