Douglas K. Wolfson is a partner of the firm in its Litigation Department and a member of the Land Use Practice Group and Dispute Resolution Practice Group. Mr. Wolfson concentrates his practice in the areas of mediation, appellate, chancery and employment litigation, zoning, land use and smart growth issues. Mr. Wolfson previously served as the Assistant Attorney General of New Jersey and Director of the Division of Law in the Department of Law and Public Safety. Formerly a New Jersey Superior Court Judge from 1991 - 2002, Mr. Wolfson served assignments in Family, Criminal, and Civil parts. While on the Bench, he specialized in handling employment discrimination, complex commercial and land use litigation and environmental cases. He is well known for his hands-on management of complex matters and his innovative settlement and mediation techniques. Mr. Wolfson successfully mediated sensitive employment and catastrophic injury cases involving both the public and private sectors. Mr. Wolfson also published numerous judicial opinions in the areas of zoning and planning, real estate brokers/N.J. Guaranty Fund, the U.C.C., tort law, special education, criminal law, family law and Constitutional challenges. He has also authored numerous legal articles on a wide range of subjects affecting the public at large, including land development, affordable housing and electronic banking. He serves as an adjunct professor at Rutgers School of Law - Newark in the areas of land use controls and land development law. He is a frequent lecturer and has spoken at events sponsored by the New Jersey Judicial College, the Hispanic Bar Association, the Institute for Continuing Legal Education, and the New Jersey State Bar Association on topics relating to employment law, land use and zoning litigation, Mt. Laurel, and the Federal Civil Rights Act. A graduate of Rutgers College (1974), he received his law degree from Rutgers School of Law - Newark (1977) where he was articles editor for the Rutgers Journal of Computers & the Law and a student author in the Rutgers Law Review.Mr. Wolfson is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and was appointed to the District VIII, Ethics Committee from 1988-1991. In 1977 he was admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and the Supreme Court of New Jersey. After serving as law secretary to the Honorable David D. Furman, he joined Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP as an associate in 1978 and became a partner in 1984. |
