L. Doug Sime of Bridgewater, Massachusetts, USA, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 88th International Convention held in Hong Kong, June 27-July 1, 2005.
Director Sime is in the manufacturing, customer service and health department fields.
A Lion since 1978 and a member of the Bridgewater Lions Club, Director Sime has held many offices within the association, including club president, zone chair, cabinet secretary/treasurer, Journey for Sight chair, LCIF chair, state convention committee chair, international convention committee chair, council secretary, council chair and district governor. Additionally he was a member of Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund, Inc.
In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards, including the 100% President Award, three District Governor Appreciation Awards, International President’s Leadership Award, International President’s Award and two International President’s Certificates of Appreciation. In 1998, he was the first recipient of the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund Sight Award. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lion activities, Director Sime is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He is currently a member of the Conservation Commission and Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund. In the past, he was a part of the Zoning Board of Appeals, Affirmative Action Committee, Industrial Development Commission, Town Audit Review Committee and Civil Defense-Auxiliary Police.
Director Sime and his wife, Vale, also a Lion and Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, have two children, five foster children and four grandchildren. |
