Doss Struse Biography :

Doss has extensive international research experience both as a client and as a vendor. On the client side, he headed the Marketing Research and the Marketing Information departments at Oscar Mayer, Carnation, Nestle USA and General Mills. On the vendor side, Doss served as SVP Marketing for A. C. Nielsen where he directed marketing, new product development and analytic services, first for the US division and then the international division. Doss left Nielsen to become CEO of Research International USA where in less than four years he grew it into one of the top 10 US firms by opening regional offices focused on vertical industries, such as IT, and by launching a Internet division, Lightspeed. In 1999, Doss went to the start-up, Knowledge Networks, where he helped build a Top 20 survey research company in less than 3 years.Doss has been active in a variety of industry associations over an extended period. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Advertising Research Foundation; has chaired the AMA’s Annual Marketing Research Conference three times; and has served as a Trustee of the Marketing Science Institute. He has delivered over 60 papers and talks for industry groups such as Advertising Research Foundation, American Marketing Association, The Conference Board, Council of Survey Research Organizations Food Marketing Institute, Grocery Manufacturers Association, Institute of International Research, Marketing Research Association, Marketing Science, and ORSA/TIMS.Doss has been a guest speaker on a number of occasions at leading business schools including Stanford University, MIT, Wharton, University of Texas, Harvard and the University of Chicago. His publications include: Marketing Research: State of the Art Perspectives, edited by C. Chakrapani, 2000 Chapter on International Research; Marketing Research, Winter 1999, Marketing Research’s Top 25 Influences; Category Management, Lonsdale, Payne & Struse, 1992; Marketing Science, Spring 1987, Approaches to Promotion Analysis: A Practitioner’s Viewpoint; and Harvard Business School 75th Anniversary Colloquia, 1983, The Four P’s of Marketing Decision Support Systems: Promises, Payoffs, Paradoxes, and Prognostications. (Published as a research paper and then as a chapter in the proceedings.)
