EXPERIENCE: Don is a trial lawyer who is Florida Board Certified in Construction Law. Don has extensive experience in construction, construction litigation, professional liability and commercial litigation. Don is counsel for owners, developers, architects, engineers, contractors, sub-contractors, suppliers, bonding companies and insurance companies. A significant portion of Don's practice involves the preparation and negotiation of contract documents for construction projects. Don also advises clients on construction financing and insurance issues. Don has authored articles and presented numerous seminars on construction/litigation issues, including construction contract negotiation, construction administration and site safety issues, mechanic's lien and bonds, construction liability, indoor air quality (IAQ), and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). BACKGROUND: Don was born in Tampa, Florida, where he graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1976. After receiving his engineering degree from the University of Florida, Don returned to Tampa and worked for seven years with Tampa Electric Company in the Power Plant Engineering and Construction Departments. During this time, Don became a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.), and he also received a Masters in Business from the University of Tampa. In 1987, Don entered the University of Kansas Law School. Don received his law degree in 1989 and has concentrated his practice in the areas of construction and commercial litigation, and related transactional work. EDUCATION: University of Florida, B.S.
