Dipanjan (DJ) Nag is a Director at Ocean Tomo located in the Chicago office. He is focused in the company’s valuation practice area and university services. In the university services area Dr. Nag is developing The Dean’s List area of service and providing a fresh start to this premier intellectual property market place. He is also working with other members at Ocean Tomo to create the first comprehensive University Intellectual Property Scorecard based on the patent portfolio held by all U.S. universities.
Dr. Nag brings with him a wealth of academic experience. He was the Director of Operations in the Office of Technology Development at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) prior to joining Ocean Tomo. He was responsible for successfully licensing more than 30 technologies from the University to the marketplace including the major licensing deal with The Monsanto Company for a genetic invention. He also provided leadership in business development and creation of spin out companies from UNL. At UNL Dr. Nag was responsible for valuation, marketing, negotiation, licensing and collaboration involving the university technology portfolio. During his tenure at UNL the Office of Technology Development grew more than 300%.
Prior to that Dr. Nag was the Director of Instrumentation in charge of the state-of-the-art facility servicing the entire UNL campus and the University of Nebraska Medical Center. During his tenure as the director he was responsible for scientific collaboration with faculty, industry and other institutions. He served on various committees including academic senate, undergraduate and graduate recruiting and a board of director for Lincoln Family Service. He received several awards for his committed service to the university.
As an active member of The Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) and the Licensing Executive Society (LES), Dr. Nag serves in the professional development taskforce of AUTM providing input in the areas of intellectual property portfolio management. In 2005 he received the prestigious Howard Bremer Scholarship in technology transfer.
Dr. Nag has a Ph.D. in biophysical chemistry and instrumentation from UNL and performed research in the area of unusual DNA structures and interaction of cations. He also holds a MS in chemistry and a Bachelor in Pharmaceutical Engineering. In 2005 he received his MBA in marketing from UNL. In 2006 he completed the Harvard Negotiation Course. |
