Dermot Halpin was appointed president of Expedia, Inc. businesses across the European, Middle East and African regions in April 2006. He has overall responsibility for the Expedia Inc. businesses, which include Expedia® and Hotels.com® across all points of sale in EMEA and Expedia® Private Label.
Previously, Halpin served as chief operating officer for Expedia® Europe and held other leadership positions for Expedia.co.uk, including managing director and operations director. Halpin began his career with Expedia® in 2001.
Prior to joining Expedia, Halpin held senior positions within Tele2, a Swedish telecoms operator, and served as general manager of Tele2 subsidiaries Intellinet and Transac. Previously, Halpin was a founding employee of a Swedish Web software start-up, worked as a project manager for a Norwegian oil company and spent two years as a civil engineer in Spain and Ireland.
Halpin holds an MBA from INSEAD and studied engineering at University College Dublin, Ireland. |
