Derek Goodmanson is responsible for all major maintenance activities for TransAlta’s coal, gas and hydro assets. As a member of the Generation Technology leadership team, he also plays a key role in helping to guide the operations of the company’s generation facilities.
Mr. Goodmanson combines his technical expertise with a background in plant operations, maintenance and engineering, to deliver key business results for the company. Mr. Goodmanson has extensive experience in the power industry, working first with Saskatchewan Power, and then with Suncor before contributing in a number of roles with increasing responsibility at TransAlta.
He recently served as Director for TransAlta’s Eastern Canada operations, where he oversaw the operation of generation facilities in Ottawa, Mississauga, Windsor and Sarnia, the company’s largest cogeneration plant.
Previously, Mr. Goodmanson worked as Operations Manager at TransAlta’s Poplar Creek facility and as Plant Manager at the Meridian Cogeneration facility. In both of these capacities, he helped to ensure the provision of reliable energy products to TransAlta’s customers.
Mr. Goodmanson is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from the University of Saskatchewan. |
