Dennis Johnson possess a vast amount of experience in the areas of television programming, film and television production, and talent management. Prior coming to Omni, he served as Senior Vice President of Showtime Entertainment Group, Showtime Networks where he was in charge of all aspects of Showtime's Original Programs. During that period, the network dramatically increased its output of original motion pictures and series. Johnson supervised all development and production of original programming - movies, series and specials. Additionally, he oversaw series staffing budget, casting scheduling and post-production. Johnson also served as liaison with Press, Creative Services, and Sales and Affiliate Departments. He advised on all on-air and print promotion campaigns.
Mr. Johnson's experience in the entertainment industry included musical specials starring Dionne Warwick, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, and Elton John. He also was responsible for the four "Motown on Showtime" Specials featuring Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Four Tops and Temptations, and Smokey Robinson. Johnson's experience also includes developing comedy specials with stars in their early careers, such as Rosie O'Donnell, Tim Allen, Elaine Boosler, Drew Carey, Paul Reiser, Jim Carrey, Ellen Degeneres, Tommy Davidson and many others who went to star in their own series.
Before his tenure at Showtime, Johnson held a senior position with Osmond Television, developing comedy and variety, movies, and syndicated programming for the networks. Immediately prior to joining Osmond Television, Johnson was the Vice President and Executive Producer at ABC Television Networks in Los Angeles where he supervised variety series and the developing of new talent for network comedy and new variety series. Prior to that, he was director of comedy and variety programs at NBC Television Networks, supervising half-hour comedy variety programming and late night series. Johnson began his career as a Page at NBC where he eventually was hired as manager of nighttime programming.
