Demetrios G. Kaouris practices in the areas of commercial and business litigation and insurance coverage disputes. He represents businesses located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore in a wide-variety of commercial and business litigation including collection actions, construction disputes and internal management disputes. Mr. Kaouris also has represented homeowners' associations and condominium associations in cases involving commercial and business litigation. Mr. Kaouris has obtained several favorable published rulings for Miles & Stockbridge clients. In a case of first impression in Maryland involving an insurance coverage dispute, Mr. Kaouris successfully persuaded the Circuit Court for Wicomico County to grant summary judgment in favor of an insurer in Calloway v. MAMSI Life & Health Insurance Company. The Court of Appeals of Maryland affirmed the Trial Court's grant of summary judgment in MAMSI Life & Health Insurance Company v. Calloway, 375 Md. 261 (2003). In another case of first impression involving notice of defective tender under the Uniform Commercial Code, Mr. Kaouris, along with William W. McAllister, Jr., successfully argued that notice of breach is not necessary when a seller fails to deliver goods to the buyer in accordance with the schedule set forth in the contract. See Cambridge Technologies, Inc. v. Argyle Industries, Inc., 146 Md. App. 415, 807 A.2d 125 (2002). Prior to joining Miles & Stockbridge, Mr. Kaouris served as a law clerk to the Honorable Dale R. Cathell, Court of Appeals of Maryland.
