Deirdre Patten is Executive Vice President, Business Development at MGL Consulting Corporation. Ms. Patten has more than 24 years of experience in the industry encompassing real estate and securities brokerage management and professional training and development. Her responsibilities include developing opportunities across all MGL business lines, consulting with clients on registration/licensing issues, group and individual pre-licensing coaching, instructing and training, course development, strategic planning, and management of MGLU (MGL’s business arm dedicated to professional and educational development).Prior to joining MGL, Ms. Patten worked for Kaplan Professional (formerly Dearborn Financial Institute) where she served as Vice President, Securities Education, while based in Chicago. During her 16-1/2 years at Kaplan, she was directly responsible for Securities, Insurance and Advance Designation program development and delivery. Additionally, Ms. Patten was instrumental in developing and instituting a new Certification in Financial Planning (CFP®) live review classroom program. She also played a key role in hiring and training instructors and trainers for an accelerated education classroom program targeting Certification in Financial Planning candidates. During her career, Ms. Patten has developed custom courses and product roll out programs for major insurance carriers and securities broker/dealers that have served as industry models. In addition to her course development experience, she was Kaplan's Top instructor for 16 plus years. In this position, she taught all FINRA (securities) and NFA (commodities) pre-licensing courses offered by Kaplan along with related "Train-the-Trainer" programs to facilitate implementation. Her programs were not only used by Kaplan Professional, but also major clearing firms, large wire houses and nationally recognized insurance groups.Prior to joining Kaplan, Deirdre served as a member of senior management for Swink & Company, a municipal bond firm where she was responsible for supervision of two branch offices specializing in municipal brokerage. On the investment banking side, she has been involved in taking two companies public. |
