Mr. Parekh became a member of the board of directors with the completion of the company’s initial public offering in July 2006. He currently serves as the chairman and chief executive officer of Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited (HDFC) a housing finance company in India which he joined in 1978. Since 1998 Mr. Parekh has served as a non-executive chairman of a WNS client GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd. He is also a director on the board of several Indian public companies such as Siemens Ltd. (since 2003) HDFC Chubb General Insurance Co. Ltd. (since 2002) HDFC Standard Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (since 2000) HDFC Asset Management Co. Ltd (since 2000) and The Indian Hotels Co. Ltd. (since 2000). He was a board member of ICI India Ltd (1997 to 2003) National Thermal Power Corporation (2002 to 2003) The Dharamsi Morarji Chemicals Co. Ltd. (1988 to 2003) Pathfinder Investment Co. Pvt. Ltd (1994 to 2004) Automart India Ltd. (2000 to 2002) and Asset Reconstruction Company (I) Ltd. (2002 to 2004). For his contributions to the fields of trade and industry Mr. Parekh was awarded Businessman of the Year in 1996 from Business India and Padma Bhushan in 2006. The Padma Bhushan is an award conferred by the President of India and given for distinguished services in any field. Mr. Parekh holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Bombay University and a Financial Chartered Accountant degree from England and Wales. |
