David is a Distinguished Engineer and currently leads the Service Provider and Routing Technology Architecture group at Cisco Systems. David was the chief hardware architect for the CRS-1 (Carrier Routing Systems) platform and brings over 20 years of experience in switching, interconnects, and routing hardware systems. His career highlights include building high density Ethernet and performance-setting Token Ring line cards, developing the industry-first hardware forwarding engine - the Silicon Switch Engine that was first introduced on the 7000/7500 platform, and co-inventing the Spatial Reuse Protocol for Dynamic Packet Transport (SRP/DPT) line cards for the GSR and 7500 platforms. Prior to Cisco Systems, David had worked at ROLM Systems and IBM on various projects including ISDN, mainframe, and PBX-TDM controllers. David graduated with a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and holds eleven patents seven of which have already been issued. |
