David Pittman was selected 87th overall in the 3rd round of the 2006 NFL Draft...The pick was acquired in a draft-day trade with the New York Giants...The Ravens traded their 44th-overall selection for the Giants' 56th- and 87th-overall picks.

Highlights:

Steady and smooth, Pittman was a 4-year starter as a cover corner for Northwestern State, helping the Demons to a 28-19 overall record, 2 I-AA playoff berths and the 2004 Southland Conference championship...Was the only Division 1-AA DB to receive an invitation to the Senior Bowl...Pittman had 4 defensive TDs in his college career (3 INT returns and 1 blocked FGA return) and also blocked 2 kicks...He played in 43 career games, tallying 147 total tackles (108 solo), 11 INTs, 26 PD, 2 FFs and 2 FRs.

"David Pittman is a guy at the Senior Bowl, against the top receivers in the country, and everybody was asking, 'Who's that guy in the blue helmet?'" said Ravens director of college scouting Eric DeCosta. "He stood out against the best players in the country...He blew us away with his interview and his personality. He's a really motivated and smart kid. He's got a chance to play immediately at this level."

College Career:

2005: Named 1st-team I-AA All-American by the Sports XChange...A Sports Network preseason All-America...Was an All-Southland Conference 1st-team and All-Louisiana 1st-team selection... Pittman shut down some of the top wideouts in I-AA, including 2 preseason All- Americans...Played in 10 games (7 starts), totaling 36 tackles, an INT, a FF and 9 PD as a senior...His INT came inside the 10-yard line to thwart a potential game-winning drive by Division I-A Louisiana-Monroe late in the Demons' 27-23 win...Followed up by forcing a fumble on Louisiana- Monroe's final drive with 1:19 remaining, giving NSU the ball at midfield and clinching the victory... Began the season on The Sports Network's 16-man watch list for the Buck Buchanan Award given to the top defensive player in Division I-AA, but was dropped due to his modest stats, which stemmed from opposing teams avoiding him.

2004: Was an All-Southland Conference 1st-team selection...Named All-Louisiana 2nd-team... Limited to 8 games (2 starts) due to injury, but still led the Demons in INTs with 5 (136 yards), including a 57-yard INT return for a TD in win at Stephen F. Austin, and was 2nd on the team in PD with 10...Totaled 28 tackles (21 solo)...Had 7 tackles, 0.5 TFL (minus-1), a PD and 2 INTs in the win at Jackson State...Had 5 tackles and a PD in the win over Appalachian State...Earned LSWA Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance in the win at Stephen F. Austin: 5 tackles, 3 PD, and 2 INTs, including the 57-yard TD...Had 5 tackles and 2 PD in playoff game at Montana.

2003: All-SLC 2nd-team...Played in all 12 games, starting 1...Led the Demons with 4 INTs, returning them for 118 yards, including a 69-yard TD on the final play of the 1st half against Southeastern Louisiana...The pick was 1 of a Division I-AA-record 4 INT returns for TDs by the Demons against SLU in a 87-27 blowout...Pittman later scored another TD on a 62-yard return of a blocked 3rd-quarter FGA...Earned SLC Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance...His 55 tackles ranked 6th on the team...Recovered 2 fumbles...Tallied 6 tackles vs. Delaware State in the near-shutout win...Compiled 8 tackles and 2 PD in the Demons' victory at Division I-A Louisiana- Monroe...Had 5 tackles, 1 FF and 1 FR at Northern Iowa...Blocked a punt vs. Oklahoma Panhandle...Had an INT in a rout over Texas State...Racked up 5 tackles, blocked a FG, and had 1 INT at Sam Houston State...Had 7 tackles and a PD vs. Stephen F. Austin...Was 3rd on team with 7 PD, as teams began throwing away from him, limiting his opportunities.

2002: Played in 12 games (1 start)...Had a 41-yard INT return for a TD and 6 PD in his rookie campaign... His TD came against SW Texas to open a 23-7 lead in a 40-27 win...Tallied 4 tackles vs. Elon in a 47-20 win and 4 more in the win at Nicholls State.

2001: Redshirted as a freshman.

Pittman was an All-District selection at Lutcher (LA) HS...Has 4 cousins who have played college sports: current LSU DE Kirsten Pittman, former Florida DT Thomas Pittman, former Southern Mississippi WR Kenneth Johnson and former Southern baseball player Damian Ursine...Thomas played in the NFL for the Cleveland Browns (2003), while Johnson played for the Bossier/Shreveport Battlewings in AF2 arena football, and Ursine is playing in the Cincinnati Reds' minor league system...Pittman was a 2-sport star at Northwestern St., competing in track and field from 2002-04...Earned his business administration degree...His nickname is "Pitt"...Full name: David Earl Pittman.
