David Peterschmidt is President and CEO of Openwave. He is focused on growing and expanding Openwave's global market share.
Peterschmidt has more than 25 years of experience in building global companies to become leaders in their industries. Prior to joining Openwave he was chief executive officer and chairman of Securify a security software company. At Securify Peterschmidt expanded the management team and grew revenues over 80 percent year over year.
Prior to this position he was chairman and chief executive officer of Inktomi where he steered the company to a leadership position in Internet infrastructure. Under Peterschmidt's tenure Inktomi grew from a start-up of less than 20 people to a company generating approximately $225 million in revenue a year with marquee customers. He also guided Inktomi's public offering operations expansion and the sale of the company to Yahoo! in 2003.
Prior to Inktomi Peterschmidt managed operations at Sybase for six years serving as its chief operating officer for his last five years there. During those six years Sybase's annual revenue grew from $60 million to $1 billion.
He has also held a range of executive positions at other technology software and hardware companies. Peterschmidt currently serves on the board of directors of Business Objects Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association (CTIA) Netblue and UGS Corp.
