Mr. Campbell is a Vice President of Goldman Sachs' Principal Investment Area focused on early stage technology venture investment. He sits on the boards of Fabric7 Systems, Surgient, and Terracotta. For the 10 years prior to joining the venture group, Mr. Campbell held a number of senior roles within the firm's Technology Group, including global infrastructure architecture, and global enterprise storage. He was elected Technology Fellow in 2002 for his role in developing the firm's "thin building" strategy, the XP desktop and Linux platforms, and the enterprise storage architecture. He started his career working on a number of industry and military projects, focused on operating systems and real-time control systems. In 1990, he moved to Japan to work in the Fujitsu research and development labs as an engineer on the VP2000 Unix super computer project. In 1994, he joined Goldman Sachs in Japan managing their systems in Asia; relocating to NY to take on the global arechitecture role in 1998. Mr. Campbell holds both a BE, Electrical Engineering and BA, Japanese from Queensland University, Australia. |
