David joined the Barclays Board on 1 May 2007. He currently manages his own venture capital investments, having retired from the Management Committee of Morgan Stanley in 1997. David was employed by Morgan Stanley from 1982 to 1992 and again from 1995 to 1997. He held various positions there, including Head of Government Bond Trading, Head of Mortgage Trading, Sales and Finance, and Head of Global Operations and Technology. In 1992-93, he was President and a Director of Discount Corporation of New York. In 1994-95, he was a consultant to Morgan Stanley regarding the relocation of its New York City headquarters.
David is also a Trustee of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and Chair of its Investment Committee.
