David Whetten has extensive business and marketing experience spanning more than two decades. In 1986 Mr. Whetten founded InsurQuote Systems Inc. and served as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board for 13 years. Under Mr. Whetten’s leadership InsurQuote raised more than $50 million in investment capital and grew to more than 550 employees.
During his tenure as CEO InsurQuote pioneered a number of new software products and became the industry’s premier provider of insurance shopping and fulfillment automation technology. The company designed and developed several new product lines previously unavailable in the industry including a competitive analysis tool that is now used by 6 of the top 10 independent insurance carriers in the world.
Mr. Whetten was also instrumental in defining and overseeing the marketing of InsurQuote’s key internet technologies. In a January 1999 BancBoston Robertson Stephens article titled Movers and Shakers Most Visible in the Internet Distribution Industry Mr. Whetten was named one of the top five most influential persons in Internet Distribution. In this article BancBoston stated that Whetten has been thinking about changing the complex data interchange infrastructure of insurance for longer than anyone we know. After InsurQuote merged with ChannelPoint Inc. based in Colorado Springs Mr. Whetten served as Senior Vice President and board member for ChannelPoint overseeing the company’s agency product line. Following the sale of the company Mr. Whetten joined Groen Brothers Aviation in 2005 to help bring GBA’s unique technologies to a much broader market. |
