David Kyle is chairman of the board of ONEOK. He was named chairman president and chief executive officer of ONEOK in August 2000. Prior to that he spent three years as president and chief operating officer of the company. He retired as an employee in January 2008.
Kyle joined Oklahoma Natural Gas in 1974 as an engineer trainee and held jobs of increasing responsibility in Ardmore and Muskogee before moving to Tulsa in 1982 as manager of transmission. In 1986 he was named vice president of gas supply and became executive vice president in 1990.
Active in civic and community affairs Kyle is a director of the Oklahoma Heritage Association and also serves as trustee of Philbrook Museum of Art and the University of Tulsa.
Kyle was recognized as a 2002-2003 Outstanding Business Alumnus by the University of Tulsa College of Business Administration. In 2004 he was inducted into the Oklahoma State University College of Engineering Architecture and Technology Hall of Fame. Kyle was inducted into the Tulsa Historical Society’s Hall of Fame in 2006 and the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 2007.
A native of Wichita Kansas Kyle grew up in Oklahoma City where he graduated from John Marshall High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering and management in 1974 from Oklahoma State University and received a master’s degree in business administration in 1987 from the University of Tulsa. He is also a graduate of Harvard Business School’s advanced management program. |
