David L. Hanson's practice focuses on wealth planning, including taxation, wealth management and transfer documentation, probate rules and procedures, disclaimers and other postmortem tax techniques, and trust litigation. He has an extensive list of professional speaking engagements. In an earlier position as an attorney at The Northern Trust Company, he was the first editor of The Northern’s Will and Trust Forms books for Illinois, Florida and Arizona attorneys.
David has been involved in a number of professional and civic activities. He is a member and former chairman of the Probate Practice Committee of the Chicago Bar Association and the longtime chairman of its Cook County Probate Rules and Forms Committee. He is a member of the Chicago Estate Planning Council and of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.
He is a committed member of the Union League Club of Chicago, where he has chaired the Public Affairs Committee, the Long Range Planning Committee and the Membership Committee, and has served on the club's board of directors for 12 years, including as secretary for four years, as second vice president, as first vice president and as president of the club. He currently serves as a member of the board of trustees of the Union League Boys and Girls Clubs and of the board of directors of the Union League Civic & Arts Foundation.
David is active in his community as a member and president of the board of directors of the Oak Park and River Forest High School Scholarship Foundation. He is a past member and president of both the River Forest Elementary Schools board of education and the Oak Park and River Forest High School Board of Education. He is a member and past president of the River Forest Service Club.
David and his wife, Nancy, have two sons, one an attorney and one a naval officer, and four grandchildren. |
