David Ahlvers is a member of the Lindquist & Vennum’s Family Law Group. He advises clients in all aspects of marital dissolution and domestic partnership, including settlement negotiations, division of complex marital estates, nonmarital tracing, custody and parenting time, and post-dissolution disputes. He aims for amicable resolutions, yet offers the skills for successful litigation when necessary.David, who joined Lindquist & Vennum as an associate in September 2006, became familiar with the workings of the judicial system and family court while clerking for Fourth Judicial District Court Judge Regina M. Chu for almost two years. In that position, he dealt with a wide spectrum of legal issues, from the division of marital estates to civil procedure to social matters. He also conducted research and drafted judgment and decrees on issues regarding the tracing of nonmarital assets, valuations and divisions of business interests, and conflicts of law.While he pursued his J.D. degree, David clerked in the legal department of the Minnesota AIDS project and prosecuted misdemeanors for the city of St. Paul. He externed at the Minnesota Court of Appeals with the Honorable David Minge. |
