David D. Powell, Vice President, joined the Seattle office of Duff & Phelps LLC in 2003 after approximately six years as a Valuation Services Manager with KPMG Consulting and American Appraisal Associates, Inc. David's technical valuation experience includes analysis of entire businesses, various equity interests, IPR&D, intellectual property, FAS 141/142 compliance and tax reporting. Industry experience has been largely focused in electronics, computer software, media/internet, telecommunications, retail and distribution for both private and public corporations. In his current role, David is responsible for project review, client communications and marketing for Duff & Phelps LLC on the West Coast.
Prior to his valuation career, David consulted, directed and managed fundraising efforts for start-up, private companies - primarily in the technology and retail industries. David helped companies determine optimal capital structures, valuations and offering terms, built pro-forma financial statements, edited business plans and sourced qualified institutional (venture capitalists, family trusts, banks, insurance companies, buyout/LBO firms), individual and corporate investors. In addition, David began his professional career as a sell-side telecommunications research analyst in New York. Primary responsibilities included developing quantitative analysis of industry and business performance, building cash flow projections and financial models, establishing valuations and writing research reports for institutional clients.
David holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Washington and is a Level II Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) candidate. |
