David C. Merritt became an independent director of Calpine in February 2006, and is a member of the nominating and governance and audit committees. He has served as Managing Director of Salem Partners, LLC, an investment-banking firm, since October 2003. He has been on the boards of Charter Communications and Outdoor Channel Holdings, Inc. since 2003. He also served as a director of Laser-Pacific Media Corporation from January 2001 through October 2003, and served as chairman of its audit committee. From January 2001 to April 2003 Mr. Merritt was a Managing Director in the Entertainment Media Advisory Group at Gerard Klauer Mattison & Co., Inc., a provider of financial advisory services to the entertainment media industry. From July 1999 to November 2001, he served as Chief Financial Officer of CKE Associates, Ltd., a privately held company with interests in talent management, film and television production, music and news media. Prior to that, Mr. Merritt was with KPMG LLP for 24 years, serving in a variety of capacities during his years with the firm, including 14 years as a partner. Mr. Merritt earned a bachelor of science degree in business and accounting from California State University - Northridge. |
