Mr. Hopkins has been a business trial attorney for almost 30 years. He has represented property owners and developers in land use and contract matters from single family dwellings to large condominium projects. He has substantial experience in environmental compliance and litigation concerning contaminated properties and related insurance coverage issues. His complex litigation clients include government entities, primarily in environmental and pension compliance matters. He has represented licensed professionals, including attorneys, architects and archaeologists, in malpractice matters. His facility in Spanish has assisted in his representation of individuals and businesses in San Diego. Mr. Hopkins has substantial family law experience. His cases typically involve ownership of businesses and professional practices, preparation of pre- and post-nuptial agreements, or difficult child custody issues, including allegations of domestic violence and child sexual abuse. Mr. Hopkins is a proponent of Alternative Dispute Resolution. He has served on the American Arbitration Association Panel of Arbitrators and the San Diego County Bar Association s Arbitration Committee. He has resolved complex cases, ranging from environmental contamination and insurance coverage matters to malicious prosecution and difficult divorce cases, through either arbitration or mediation. Mr. Hopkins is admitted to practice in California, Ohio and the District of Columbia. Prior to moving to California in 1986, he was a partner in the firm Arter & Hadden.
