David A. Spenard is of counsel in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Washington, D.C. office. He is a member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department and concentrates his practice primarily on patent litigation in both federal district courts and the International Trade Commission. David's litigation subject matter has included data storage/SAN technology, 3D computer vision, satellite television, fax machines, DRAM's, PET yarn and cosmeceuticals, among others. He has additional experience with patent opinions, technology licensing and prosecution with an emphasis on electrical, computer and mechanical arts.
David is admitted to practice in Ohio, the District of Columbia and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He is a member of the Foresight Institute, the American Bar Association (Intellectual Property Section), The American Intellectual Property Law Association (Litigation and ADR committees) and the International Trade Commission Trial Lawyers Association.
Prior to joining the Firm, David worked for eight years as an engineering consultant in the nuclear power industry. He received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
