Darren McDaniel earned his Masters of Science degree and began his research career at Syracuse University where he won the Sid Young Research Grant award for his research in children with cerebral palsy. After graduate school, he worked at various CRO and pharmaceutical companies managing over 30 types of clinical trials during his tenure. His concern for an ethical, quality central IRB was raised during his tenure managing clinical trials and working with many different IRBs. He felt the ethical review and oversight was problematic and the business service was not directed towards the end user, but to the convenience of the IRB. He thus founded Coast IRB to be the industry leader in ethical oversight with premier business service. He is a featured speaker globally, published in prestigious peer-reviewed journals and is currently working on a book to improve human subject protections in research. He lives with his wife and two children in Colorado Springs, CO and enjoys golf during his spare time. |
