Danru uses her Chinese heritage and distinguished career as a medical doctor to develop leaders in the Asian community. She is playing a key role in developing Leadership Communications’ work. As a motivational speaker and coach, Danru helps Asians overcome the cultural barriers that undermine their capacity to lead in Western organizations. She has spent a lifetime serving others and brings to a conversation a rich history of experiences originating from China. During the Cultural Revolution in the 1970’s, Danru worked in the countryside as a bare foot doctor. She received her medical education at Jilin Medical College in Northeast China. At 28 years of age, Danru immigrated to the U.S. to study at the University of Rochester in New York, where she received her PhD in Neurobiology. Today, Danru practices Internal Medicine at Boston Medical Center. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Boston University School of Medicine. A strong proponent of integrated medicine between the East and West, Danru is also a practitioner of Acupuncture and instructor of Tai Chi. In addition to her medical work, Danru has undergone over five years of intense leadership development training at the personal and professional level. Because of this experience, she is deeply committed to giving back what she has learned to the Asian community, and facilitates Leadership Communications’ cross-cultural leadership programs. Danru lives in Sharon with her son, Kevin, husband and extended family. Her daughter, Nina, is a recent business graduate at North Carolina University and is working at a marketing research firm in Chapel Hill, NC. Danru is an active member of the Sharon Chinese Choir and an avid skier during the winter. |
