Dan Sweet specializes in media relations, government affairs, and crisis communications. Throughout his career, Dan has execute media relations and crisis management campaigns for clients on a wide variety of issues, including technology, trade, labor, biotechnology, telecommunications, health and safety, and government regulations. Before joining CLS, Dan was a Vice President at Powell Tate | Weber Shandwick, where he spent eight years providing strategic counsel and developed media relations campaigns for a number of clients including: Unisys, Microsoft, American Airlines, Amtrak, Merck, the Stand Up For Steel Coalition, Cisco, and the Council for Biotechnology Information. Prior to joining Powell Tate | Weber Shandwick, Sweet worked as research director for Senator Carol Moseley-Braun (D-IL) during her 1998 Senate primary campaign. Dan also served as deputy research director for Senator Robert Torricelli’s (D-NJ) successful 1996 Senate bid. He was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the research team as well as shaping daily media messages for the campaign. Dan also worked for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, where he conducted research and developed media strategy for congressional races throughout the country. He began his career at Squier/Eskew/Knapp/Ochs, a leading media consulting firm, where he assisted in producing political advertisements and developing media strategies for clients. Dan received a B.A. in government and politics with a minor in criminal justice from the University of Maryland at College Park and has done coursework at the George Washington University’s School of Public Affairs. |
