Daniel P. Garton was named American’s Executive Vice President-Marketing in September 2002. Garton is responsible for Reservations Flight Service Sales the AAdvantage® travel awards program Advertising and Corporate Communications.
Previously Garton was named American’s Executive Vice President-Customer Services in January 2000 responsible for all Airport Operations throughout world.
Garton was President of American Eagle Airlines for three years beginning in July 1995. During Garton's tenure he engineered the airline's transition from four separate carriers to one and introduced American Eagle to the jet age with the acquisition of its first jet aircraft.
Garton joined American’s Finance Department in 1984 and held a series of positions with increasing responsibility before being named Vice President and Treasurer of American in 1989.
Garton left American in 1993 to become Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Continental Airlines. He returned to AMR two years later when he assumed the presidency of American Eagle.
Garton was awarded a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Stanford University in 1979 and a Master of Business Administration Degree in Finance from Cornell University in 1984. |
