As Vice President & Director, Business Technology Offerings (BTO), Dan Chenok has corporate responsibility for developing and managing SRA's offerings that help SRA grow across the company's three business sectors: Civil, Defense, and Command and Control, Communications and Intelligence (C3I). As a horizontal organization in SRA, BTO currently focuses on seven areas -- enterprise architecture and portfolio management, knowledge management and information sharing, business intelligence, identity management, wireless integration services, geospatial technology services, and IT service management (including enterprise systems management) -- and works with horizontal practices from across the company to provide leadership and integration for innovative methodologies and capabilities that help the company meet evolving client needs. BTO supports SRA across all of these functions in developing and winning new business, as well as in project execution. Prior to assuming his current role, Chenok served as Director, Policy and Management Strategies, playing a key role in helping SRA maximize the development and execution of strategic solutions for its clients, including privacy protection and identity management. Chenok also plays a leadership role in representing SRA at professional associations and other organizations across the IT industry.
Before joining SRA in January 2004, Chenok served as the branch chief for information policy and technology in the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). He led a staff responsible for OMB oversight of federal policies regarding electronic government, computer security, privacy, budgeting for IT, information dissemination, and related issues. In addition to addressing these issues as part of the budget, he advised senior White House officials on major policy decisions and worked closely with the Federal Chief Information Officer (CIO) Council and other interagency groups to coordinate federal actions in information policy and IT. His prior experience includes assistant branch chief for human resources and housing in OMB’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA), where he managed regulatory and information policy for the U.S. Departments of Education, Labor, Health and Human Services, and Housing and Urban Development, and served as OIRA’s lead for state and local regulatory issues.
Chenok won numerous OMB awards, including the Distinguished Service award, which is the agency's highest honor. In 2003, he received the E-Government Leadership Award from AFFIRM, a major public-private IT association, as well as the Individual Contributor of the Year for Government award from the Industry Advisory Council. Chenok also received the CIO Council's Azimuth Award as the Government Executive of the Year. In 2005 he was selected by Federal Computer Week to the Federal 100. In 2006 he was appointed as Chair of the National Institute of Standards and Technology's (NIST's) Information Security and Privacy Advisory Board (ISPAB), which advises NIST and OMB and reports to congressional committees on emerging managerial, technical, administration, and physical safeguard issues relating to IT security and privacy issues |
