Charles Kolin is an associate in the Firm's Corporate Finance Department. Prior to joining Chapman and Cutler LLP, Mr. Kolin was an associate at the law firm of Gardner Carton & Douglas in Chicago, Illinois. Mr Kolin represents insurance companies, pension funds and other institutional investors in corporate finance transactions, including domestic and international direct placements of debt securities in secured and unsecured financings. Mr. Kolin also represents both lenders and borrowers in structuring, negotiating and documenting other debt financing transactions, including middle market and large corporate banking loans; real estate financing transactions; secured debt transactions supported by various forms of real and personal property; leasing transactions (including equipment, aircraft, vehicle and software leasing); issuances of both documentary and standby letters of credit and workouts and restructurings of debt. Additionally, Mr. Kolin has experience in advising banks and commercial finance companies on federal and state banking and finance compliance matters, including the Bank Holding Company Act, the Bank Secrecy Act, bank deposits and collections and certain Federal Reserve Board Regulations. Mr. Kolin also advises commercial finance companies and other various corporate clients on consumer finance compliance and protection issues, including state licensing requirements, Truth in Lending, Equal Credit Opportunity, Fair Credit Reporting, Fair Debt Collection Practices, Uniform Consumer Credit Code and Retail Installment Sales. |
