Charles Carinalli is currently the principal of Carinalli Ventures. Previously, he was chairman and CEO of Adaptive Silicon, Inc., which he joined in July of 1999. Adaptive Silicon licenses Programmable Logic Cores for the purpose of adding programmability to system-on-chip devices. In addition, Charles serves on the board of directors of Adaptive Silicon (chairman), Extreme Networks, Clearwater Networks (chairman), Resonext and TeraBlaze. He is a holder of three patents in the areas of communications and mixed-signal design. He brings over 30 years of semiconductor, systems and business management experience. From 1970 to 1996, Charles held engineering, general management and executive positions with National Semiconductor Corporation. Most recently, as senior vice president and chief technical officer, he was responsible for core process, packaging and design tool technology. In this position, he also acted as an internal venture capitalist and was chartered with the development of several entrepreneurial start-ups within National Semiconductor. From December 1996 through July 1999, he was president and CEO of Wavespan Corporation, which was acquired by Proxim in 1999. Charles has a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from University of California, Berkeley, a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Santa Clara University and an Executive master's degree in Business Administration from Stanford University/AEA. |
