Charles S. Leeper is a partner and head of the firm’s White Collar Crime and Corporate Investigations Team. His practice focuses on the defense of white collar criminal investigations and prosecutions, congressional inquiries and related civil proceedings. Charles has extensive experience defending companies and individuals against allegations of government contract fraud, antitrust violations, securities fraud, tax violations and environmental crimes.
Charles previously served as an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, where he investigated and prosecuted an array of complex cases involving white collar offenses, public corruption, asset forfeiture, espionage and terrorism. Charles was awarded the U.S. Department of Justice Special Achievement Award in four of the seven years he served as a federal prosecutor and in 1987 became one of only 32 assistant U.S. attorneys to receive the Director’s Award for Superior Performance. Charles also supervised a team of other veteran prosecutors in his capacity as deputy chief of the Special Prosecutions Unit.
In General. Charles received his bachelor's degree in accounting from Bucknell University in 1972 and his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1975. He is admitted to practice in New York and the District of Columbia. |
