Brian Canfield was elected to Suncor Energy’s Board of Directors in November 1995 and is a member of the audit committee and the board policy, strategy review and governance committee. He is the chairman of TELUS Corporation, a telecommunications company.
Along with his membership on Suncor’s Board of Directors, Mr. Canfield also serves as a director and chair of the governance committee of the Canadian Public Accountability Board.
In June 1998, Mr. Canfield was appointed to the Order of British Columbia. In 1997, he was named Honorary Doctor of Technology by the British Columbia Institute of Technology. He is the first business leader to earn this distinction.
Mr. Canfield is married and has three children.
