In 2001, after 34 years of dedicated service, Mr. Burnette retired from the Company and the Bank. He served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company since its founding in 1982 up to retirement, as the Chief Executive Officer of the Bank from 1990 to 1997, as President of the Bank from 1983 to 1990, and as Executive Vice President of the Bank from 1968 to 1982. Mr. Burnette also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Company and the Bank from February 2000 to March 2003. Mr. Burnette has served as a director of the Bank since 1968. Mr. Burnette has served as a member of the Bank's Loan Committee since 2001, as Chairman of the Company’s Governance Committee February 2005, and as an ex-officio member of the Company’s Compensation Committee since March 2005. Mr. Burnette is also a director of Nexity Financial Corporation of Birmingham, Alabama and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta.
