Betsy S. Atkins 54 is the Chief Executive Officer of Baja Ventures an independent venture capital firm focused on the technology and life sciences industry since 1994. Prior to 1994 Ms. Atkins was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NCI Inc. a Functional Food/Nutraceutical company from 1991 through 1993. Ms. Atkins was a co-founder of Ascend Communications Inc. in 1989 a member of their Board of Directors and served as its Global Market Sales and International Executive Vice President prior to its acquisition by Lucent Technologies in 1999. Ms. Atkins also serves on the Boards of Directors of Polycom Inc. Reynolds American Inc. and SunPower Corporation. Ms. Atkins publishes and keynote speaks on corporate board governance best practices for the National Association of Corporate Directors. Ms. Atkins was a Presidential-appointee to the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation advisory committee and is a Governor-appointed member of the Florida International University Board of Trustees. |
