Beth B. Woods is a Managing Director in Major, Lindsey & Africa's Chicago office. Beth's practice at MLA focuses on representing associates in the lateral marketplace. Prior to joining MLA, Beth was a litigation partner at the law firm of Williams, Montgomery & John, specializing in trucking, construction and premises liability. In addition to taking well over 100 depositions, Beth tried and successfully defended six jury trial cases in state and federal courts.
Beth's career as a litigator honed her ability to read people, elicit information and effectively communicate with them. This background serves her well at MLA as she counsels associates in finding and selecting positions most suited to their skills, background, training and personality.
Beth played basketball at the University of Chicago and graduated with honors with a B.A. in Romance language and literature. She also studied and worked abroad and speaks fluent French. She obtained her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Miami and practiced in Naples, Florida, as a commercial litigator before moving back to Chicago.
In another life (pre-law), Beth traveled the world as a Shore Excursion Manager for Norwegian Cruise Lines. While she will vigorously deny it, Beth calls a mean game of BINGO and has taught thousands of people the world over how to dance the Cotton Eyed Joe.
In her free time, Beth enjoys traveling, golfing, attending live sporting events and playing the occasional game of pick-up. She also remains active at the University of Chicago with the Graduate Women's Athletic Association and the Career and Placement Center helping to mentor students during their transition from the College into the workplace. |
